Axis A22 Wins Award Down Under

The Axis Wake (@AxisWake) A22 wakeboard boat was honored with the 2011 Imported Ski Boat Award from WA Marine in Australia. This photo features Lou Sloot from Axis Wake Dealer Bonney's Park Ski Shop accepting the coveted award.

Designed to showcase the best marine product on offer in the Australian state of Western Australia. This is why the award entitled "Import" because the Axis Wake Research of Australia builds boats in the state of Victoria.

WA Marine wrote this about the 2011 award. "The Imported Ski Boat winner for 2011is no surprise to any enthusiasts. The Axis A22is a beautifully finished boat which is suitable for the whole family. The unique bow design has overcome the problem of water over the bow, so often experienced in ski boats and the accessories such as a wetsuit warming tray and great storage, make it a very competitive vessel amongst its peers. With a fully adjustable helm chair, substantial stowage, good ballasting and easy engine access this is a deserved winner. Sean Reid Managing Director of the Breakwater to present the award to Lou Sloot from Bonney’s Park Ski Shop."

The WA Marine Awards are organised by the Boating Industry Association of Western Australia with sponsorship from the Department of Commerce. Each of the individual category awards are sponsored by interested agencies or business from within and outside the marine industry. The awards have been in place for the past five years and are designed to showcase the best marine product on offer in the state.

Congratulations to Bonney's Park Ski Shop and Axis Wake Research Australia!

Axis USA & Australia Team Up to Sign Wakeboarder Dean Smith

Axis Wake Research (@AxisWake) welcomes the free-riding, massive air professional Australian wakeboarder Dean Smith (@DeanwSmith) to the team. Check out the video Alliance Wake Magazine put together of Dean shreddin behind the A22.

Axis Wake Research in the USA and Australia are welcoming Dean Smith to their Factory Pro Team because just like Axis wake boats, he is all about charging hard and doing it with style. Smith wanted a boat that would allow him to take his “go big or go home,” attitude into every riding session as well as every competition. It’s this approach that earned the Australian Pro the 2010 WWA Men’s Wakeboard World Championship title. A fun, unassuming guy, Smith has the heart of a lion and conducts himself with true professionalism. Together with his massive tricks and free-riding style, Smith’s character makes him a perfect fit for Axis Wake Research. Smith rides and lives each day to the fullest and that’s how these boats perform; like today is your best day on the water. Axis is proud to call Deano, as he is affectionately known, a member of the family.

When asked about his new team, this is how Smith responded, "I couldn't be happier on joining the Axis team! It is a company that shares that same passion about wakeboarding as I do, and is moving in a positive direction in the process.” Smith continued, “Having Randall and Keith as team mates is also a huge factor for me. Having 2 of the most innovative riders in world on the same team is a huge honor, and will only push me with my own riding. I'm looking forward to the 2011 season!”

On the pro wakeboard scene since 2004, Smith is no stranger to the podium. He has inflicted years of domination on the Australian Pro Wakeboard Tour. In 2010 he won the hearts of wake fans around the world by becoming the WWA Men’s Wakeboard World Champ. This underdog’s success is proof that if you want it bad enough and train hard enough victory is always within reach.

“I have so much respect for Dean’s riding, versatility and professionalism,” says David Thorpe, National Marketing Manager of Axis Wake Research Australia.

Smith is the first native Australian to earn the title of Wakeboard World Champ. He was born in Sydney in 1984 and still lives there for half of the year. He splits time between his birth place and Orlando, FL wakeboarding as much as he can on both sides of the globe. Together Axis Wake Research USA and Australia are keeping Smith in an Axis wakeboard boat whether he is Stateside or Down Under. This way Smith’s rigorous training schedule can remain just as intense no matter his location.

“Sticking to the Axis roots for pro athlete consideration, it is such a logical fit. Just like our boats, the rider’s attitude, style, and skill level must find balance. Deano has that,” explained Adam McCall, Managing Director for Axis Wake Research. “We at Axis look forward to working with Dean and seeing mutual benefit to the brand and to his riding career.”

Cote Wins with Axis in the Octagon

Axis Wake (@AxisWake) A22 wakeboard boat owner and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Patrick Cote (@Patrick_Cote) defeated Kalib Starnes by decision Saturday, April 9, 2011 in the main event at Ringside 10 to capture his first mixed martial arts victory in three years.

The Montreal fighter, who last won in 2008, bounced back after losing the first round to take rounds two and three with a series of punches and kicks.

"It felt great to win. I have not won in a while and I almost forgot what it felt like to win," Cote said. "It's been three years since I felt that winning feeling."

After standing up for much of the fight, Cote went to the canvas in the third round and sealed the decision against Starnes, of Surrey, B.C., before the crowd at the Bell Centre.

Axis on South African Pro Tour Podium

Axis Wake (@AxisWake) Recon and Team Liquid Sports Rider Sean O'Brien took home gold at the South African Pro Tour. And in doing so Sean put Axis Wake Research in the top spot on the podium for the first time in 2011. This Orlando wakeboarding instructor turned pro competitor has broken the ice for Axis Wake riders in 2011. Now it's on!

Here's what Sean emailed us about his victory.

"The Americans took 1st and 2nd, but it was an incredibly tight final that could have gone any way. The run that I put together was harder than any contest run that I have ever done and somehow I managed to stand up (which never happens). Palma rode right before me and put the pressure on. He killed it and really pumped me up for my ride. In the end, I managed to pull ahead by 0.5 points for the win. Morgan ended up coming in 3rd just behind us. It was one of the best finals that I have ever seen. There are some riders here that are insanely talented and I'm excited to be working with them for another 3 weeks."

Congratulations on the win, Sean and good luck with the rest of your trip! See you soon!

A Single Day Video on WakeWorld.com

Axis Wake Research (@AxisWake) Georgia Dealer, Singleton Marine Group is getting a lot of attention for A Single Day. Check out the write-up and the video on WakeWorld.com.

A Single Day, produced by Remedy Films, is exactly what the title says it is, a single day filled with wakeboarding, tight schedules, shooting, helicopter jumps, near death experiences, stitches and, most importantly, FUN!

Singleton Marine Group, the Malibu Boats and Axis Wake Research dealer in Buford, Georgia supported possibly the greatest effort for grassroots wakeboarding in the state of Georgia to date. SMG got their team riders together from both Alabama and Georgia to make a day of what wakeboarding once was and should always be; a day filled with face-shredding and hanging out on the lake.

WakeWorld.com Interviews Axis Recon Rider Josh Twelker

Josh Twelker Axis Wake (@AxisWake) Recon Rider Interview by WakeWorld.com (@WakeWorld).

For many years the California Delta has produced and been home to some of the most stylish riders of our time. However, nothing can compare to what the young Josh Twelker is already doing on his board. I have had the pleasure of watching this young buck grow from learning his first invert to his first 7 and now scoring his first cover.

Josh is one of the most stylish riders in the biz right now doing things that most people would need to master yoga before trying. He is a calm, cool and collected guy on and off the water, but really expresses himself through his riding, which has definitely paid off for him. Get used to hearing his name a lot more. And dads, hide your daughters. This is Josh Twelker.

WW: Josh, give us the run down...
JT: My name is Josh Twelker. I'm 17 years old and I live in Discovery Bay on the California Delta.

WW: What is the best part about living on the Delta?
JT: The Delta is awesome! The best part of living on the Delta is that it's on the west coast and I get to ride on one of the most legendary spots for wakeboarding almost every day. There are so many different sloughs that you can almost always find good water.

WW: How long have you been riding for?
JT: I started when I was about nine years old, so about eight years now.

The company is not even 3 years old, but is already receiving accolades for superior design and innovation, not to mention recognition for brand strength they posses.

Axis attributes this success to their team. From administrators to engineers to athletes to dealers the team at Axis Wake focuses on the goals of great wakes, style, simplicity, performance and price. Team Axis Making the Plains Even Greater with an RV Trip

The Axis Wake Research (@AxisWake) Team is set to stoke up the Midwest with an 11 day Positive Vibrations Tour that will take them to 7 Axis dealerships. It kicked off yesterday with Randall “The Vandall” Harris (@ThisizVandall) and the Axis Team giving boat demos, wakeboard clinics and getting their ride on behind these new price-point wakeboard boats. Drop by an Axis Midwest Stop near you, hang out and learn from a wakeboarding legend. Contact one of the 7 dealers that the Midwest PVT will be stopping by in order to find out how you can ride with the crew, learn about Axis Wake Research, and help put out the vibe!

Positive Vibrations Tour Stops
7/18 – Indiana: Morse Lake Inboards, Indianapolis
7/19 – Indiana: Main Channel Marine, Syracuse
7/20 – Michigan: Coldwater Lake, Coldwater
7/21 – Michigan: The Edge, Portage
7/22 – Michigan: Skiers Pier, Detroit
7/24 – Illinois: Munson Marine, Chicago
7/26 – Minnesota: Minnesota Inboard Water Sports, Excelsior

Vandall will be joined by Axis Product Expert Matt Bishop, and professional riders Trevor Maur, and Daniel Walden. The team will be lead and kept out of jail by Managing Director, Adam McCall. McCall had this to say about the crew he’s formed for this journey, “Vandall needs no explanation as to why he’s with me and Keith would have joined but he and I decided that the WolfPack would maintain our steeze on the Pro Tour and at Nationals. Matt is extremely knowledgeable about Axis and wears many different hats for the company as well as is real good at telling me that my riding lacks Vandall’s style. Trevor is not only a great rider, never so much as crossing the wake without a proper grab, but he is a professional wake coach on the West Coast. Daniel is our staff chef, because he can lay down some cuisine like none other, but he also is a pro rider, having made it to semi-finals at the KY Pro Tour Stop a few weeks ago, in a speedo… giving him clear title to ‘Boldest Rider on the Pro Tour’.”The crew will travel from dealership to dealership educating the crowd on the art of wakeboarding with style and the 2011 Axis Wake Research line of boats, all while having a great time meeting everyone.

A few Axis Dealers have built entire events around their Axis PVT Stop. This Sunday Morse Lake Inboard hosted a beach party at Bella Vita Resort on Lake Geist, in addition to offering boat demonstrations and a wakeboard clinic. Munson Marine has scheduled their Petite Lake Party Gras on the same day as the Illinois stop.

The Tweets and Facebook updates will be flying with this group. Make sure to tune in to the Axis Wake social media channels to keep up on their antics! (@AxisWake on Twitter or Axis Wake on Facebook)
